Fuel Element

The Nuclear Fuel Factory, in Resende, produces the fuel element, complying with strict quality and mechanic precision standards.

The Fuel Element is formed by the uranium dioxide pellets assembled in zircalloy (special metallic alloy) pipes, comprising an assembly of rods, whose structure is maintained rigid by reticulates called spacer grids.

The various fuel elements, inserted in the reactor core, generate heat that will be transformed into energy. Each fuel element supplies electric power to 42,000 average households for an entire month.
