FCN Nuclear Fuel Factory - Fuel Element Components and Assembly

It is one of the most modern industries in the world for the production of nuclear fuel destined to Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) of precision mechanical assembly and manufacturing of components.

With a nominal capacity of 250 yearly tons of uranium (U), approximately 100t/U are sufficient for the first load of a 1.300 MWe reactor or for yearly reloads of up to three reactors.

The fuel element manufacturing involves a high sophistication in mechanical precision and quality assurance. Ultra-sound, X-Rays equipment, special welding, laser measurements, microscopes and other sophisticated resources are regularly used in its production and control processes.
