FCN Nuclear Fuel Plant - Pellets

Designed to operate in variable commercial scale, the uranium dioxide (UO2) pellet plant has a nominal capacity of 120 t/y. It operates as an independent production unit and supplied by the uranium dioxide (UO2) powder plant. The cylinder-shaped pellets with one centimeter of length and diameter, are the synthesis of an extensive mineral-chemical-industrial process and also the raw material that, in 400 units, fill the zircaloy pipes that form each of the 235 rods comprising one fuel element at FCN - Components and Assembly. Two of those alone generate sufficient energy to supply an average household for a month. The plant is equipped with the most modern equipment and safety systems. The operation is carried out by trained technicians and under ongoing update.
