About INB
The Brazilian Nuclear Industries act on the uranium productive chain, from mining to production of the fuel that powers the reactors in the nuclear plants. Connected with the Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia (Ministry of Science and Technology), INB has its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and it is present in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Created in 1988, INB succeeded Nuclebrás and in 1994 became one single company when incorporated its controlled companies - Nuclebrás Enriquecimento Isotópico S.A. (Nuclei); Urânio do Brasil S.A. and Nuclemon Mínero-Química Ltda, absorbing their activities and competencies.
INB adopts international security patterns in its industrials unities, which guarantees the quality of its products, environmental preservation, safety and health of the employees, and well-being of the population.

Other activities
The company also works with activities non-associated with the nuclear fuel production cycle. In Buena, a municipality in São Francisco de Itabapoana, north of Rio de Janeiro state, there is a Heavy Mineral Unit and it is responsible for prospecting, mineral research, cultivation, processing, industrialization and commerce of useful heavy minerals – monazite, ilmenite, zirconite and rutile – used in ceramic industries, manufacturing of solders and pigments, and metallurgical.
