Safety

INB policy in this area shapes the working environment and conditions the individual behavior. Therefore, all and any implementation decision must be wide and continuing as it aims to raise a "Safety Culture".

To make each and every employee aware of complying with the directives and methods adopted, resulting in changes in attitudes and work procedures. INB pays special attention to the activities related to nuclear safety, those provided for in radio-protection programs, basically oriented to ensure the safety of workers and procedures, as well as those assessing potential environment impacts.

In partnership with the International Agency for Atomic Energy - AIEA, INB invests in technical formation of its staff through programs and seminars geared towards the consolidation of this philosophy.

The INB Safety Policy is based on standards and procedures under the Nuclear Safety Convention Protocol signed by the Brazilian Government in Vienna, on September 20, 1994, as ratified by Decree No. 2.648 dated July 1st, 1998.

The Safety Policy goals of that Convention are:

  •  Reach and maintain a high level of world nuclear safety by strengthening national and international cooperation actions, including, where appropriate, safety-related technical cooperation;
  •  Establish and maintain effective defenses in nuclear facilities against potential radiological damages to protect individuals, the community and the environment from the hazardous effects of ionizing radiation from such facilities;
  • Prevent accidents with radiological consequences and mitigate such consequences, if any.
