The Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil - INB finished on Tuesday (10/22) the delivery of the 25th Angra 1 reload. Even with the contingency in the budget, the company provided to Eletronuclear the 44 Fuel Assemblies planned for this reload on time. The first transport, of the six carried out this month, took place on 10/04.
The convoy departed from the Nuclear Fuel Plant in Resende / RJ, to the Almirante Álvaro Alberto Nuclear Power Station in Angra dos Reis / RJ, and was accompanied by several institutions at the federal, state and municipal levels. INB technicians are responsible for packing the material and Eletronuclear for transport planning and coordination.
The Fuel Assembly is a metal structure, up to 5 meters high, formed by a set of tubes, called rods, inside which are placed 2 to 5% enriched uranium pellets.
The 16th Angra 2 Reload Production is already underway. In August this year, the Execution Order for this reload was signed with Eletronuclear, following the fuel supply agreement signed in 2010 between the two companies. INB Resende's nationally enriched uranium will be crucial for this recharge to be met on time. The forecast is to complete the delivery in May 2020.
In addition, INB also began preparations to start production of the 26th Angra 1 Reload in March 2020, following the 16th, with the production of UO2 (Uranium Dioxide) powder.
