INB adopts principles of sustainability, seeking to cause the least possible impact on the environment, using natural resources rationally, avoiding waste and using recycling systems and production methods capable of maintaining biodiversity.

It develops programs and actions in its production units, in sensitive material deposits it manages and areas located in the vicinity of these facilities, in order to ensure the company's activities do not cause significant impacts to the environment or harm the health of workers and populations.

The operations of the Uranium Concentrate Unit and the Nuclear Fuel Plant are licensed and supervised by two national organizations: Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) (IBAMA) and the Comissão Nacional de Energia Nucler ( National Nuclear Energy Commission) (CNEN).

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a United Nations (UN) agency supervises the activities of the company, conducting regular inspections in the production facilities.
